The talent of a new generation at work

Modern Apprenticeships is a quality training pathway for young people.
It aims to attract able and motivated young New Zealanders aged 16 - 21 into industry and business careers.
The emphasis is on quality. All Modern Apprentices work to a personal training plan and aim to achieve nationally-recognised industry standards and qualifications at Levels 3 and 4 of the National Qualifications Framework.

What's Different about Modern Apprenticeships?
Modern Apprenticeships combines the best of apprenticeship tradition with some fresh thinking. The biggest difference is the level of support available to participating employers.
You'll work with your own Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator, who will actively support you and your Modern Apprentice for the duration of the Modern Apprenticeship; and you'll have first choice of a committed and motivated young person who wants to work in your business.

Your Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator will:

  • Find a motivated Modern Apprentice to meet your requirements, ensuring the person you take on is suited to your workplace and can add value to your business;

  • Handle the administration and paperwork associated with the training - saving you time, reducing your costs and keeping the training hassle-free;

  • Work with you and your Modern Apprentice to develop a personal training plan for your Modern Apprentice;

  • Regularly review your Modern Apprentice's progress against key milestones in the plan to make sure everything is going smoothly;

  • Be available to advise and help with any issues that either you or your Modern Apprentice may have about training.

Your Modern Apprenticeships Co-ordinator knows your industry or business and will work with your Industry Training Organisation to register the training agreement and facilitate training arrangements. With this level of support, taking on and training a young person has never been easier.
